have you ever sat down and thought about all of the ways that you have been wrong in your life? i like to do it from time to time to remind myself that there is still plenty to learn. it’s great to have convictions and a moral center, but perspective can sometimes turn that on it’s ear. maybe once in a decade it’s ok to flip the script. if you come up aces great, if you are made to reevaluate your convictions, even better.
i have been wrong about much:
i believed forty was spelled fourty.
i thought i would outgrow my love of shoes.
i felt at my core that some pain is worth hanging on to.
people will hear you if you just talk louder.
money doesn’t matter
i would love him forever.
this is the perfect age, for me and my kids.
i am a rock.
if you don’t look at it, it doesn’t exist.
if you look at it long enough, ponder it deeply enough, you can fix it.
all people want to be fixed.
i like to make these lists and keep them to look over years down the line. sometimes i see the same ones again and again. it has taught me that a person can still learn even if they react to a situation similarly. we can’t change who we are. maybe we can’t even change how we react in the future. the lesson is still learned each time.
i still write fourty from time to time.
i still go all in when it comes to people.
i still can’t turn down a really fab. pair of shoes.
i still want to fix it.
and yet, i don’t feel like i’m treading water. i still feel like i am learning.
try it, see what you learnE
