Today I thread my needle in preparation of sewing together the bits of a life. A life so very full of gratitude. Life is never just the sun on your shoulders or the rain on your tongue. Everyone has rivers to cross. The fabric of a well constructed life reveals the choices you have made when you find yourself on the banks of the river.
If you are lucky, you will have learned at an early age not to wait for a raft and a paddle. If you have been blessed with the notion to take a risk you will know what it means to lash together the bits you find around you to make your way.
If you are smart you will see the waste in allowing life to victimize you. I have never met a well dressed victim. I am not drawn to a person content to wallow.
The best reminder of choosing gratitude is to peep through the window of another person’s trials. To say to yourself, if they can rise above that weight I can certainly find my way.
It also does no good to string together pieces of a life to use them as a shroud. Being authentic is being honest. You will be so well supported in your trials if those around you truly know who you are.
I have sat today with the sun on my shoulders and the rain on my tongue. Grateful for the opportunity of another day. I have been blessed to be surrounded by good people. I was given the gift of bravery to be just who I am meant to be.
I am the luckiest.
