I believe church is most beautiful at a funeral. Maybe it has to do with my understanding that a joy shared is doubled and a sorrow shared is halved. Maybe it is because the songs chosen for a funeral are the most moving. I can only say that today the service helped for a moment to forget our sadness and remember a life that was so ellen. Father spoke as if she was guiding his every word. The perfect match of faith and irreverence so memorialized her.
I write this in her honor .
I believe the bible to be a book that was written to teach us how to live together. I believe that god made us in his image out of love. I believe that HE has asked us to love our neighbor. To not judge those others that he has made in his image for that alone is the work of god. I believe that in creating us, He gave us all a job to do, but that this job was not just to get to heaven. This job was to learn all that we can while we are here, first. Variety is the spice of life. There is far less to be learned from people who look, act, live, and love just like us. I do not believe that you will find god in a long line at a fast food restaurant. A place, whose sustenance can only speed us to an early death. If you are looking to do god’s work, do something that challenges you. If god gave his only son to save us, it should be the job of us all to give something cherished. In some cases this may be understanding, which is not the same thing as approval. I believe that god would not choose for us to use our faith as a weapon against the ways that we are different, but rather use his love to find the ways that we are the same. God is peace and love. Hate, close mindedness, and judgement is the work of something else.
Go now in peace. May the love of god surround you everywhere you may go.
Peace be with you.
