Please let us lay to ashes this hysteria. To this place where a boy is shot because the video game controller in his hand is mistaken for a gun. Where we are so afraid of the “others” that we whip the “we” into a frenzy along with us.
Let us lay down our suspicions. Open the door to understanding. Engaging in the unknown is the best way to work through this all. Let us find the humanity that puts ourselves beside our neighbor and not in front of them. What must be going on in a person’s life to steal another’s dog? How can we get to a place of empathy for all.
I want to live in a world of kindness. A world of generosity. A world where we are willing to have our arms outstretched in spite of the real chance of rejection. One where kindness to one doesn’t feel like a dismissal of another.
Let us stop keeping score. Let every day be another chance to be good.
To be generous.
To show love.
