i wrote, a couple months ago, of the bug’s tendency to wear the same thing….everyday…until i forcibly removed the uniform from him to wash. it had been his way since he was 5. for a guy who has tactile issues and for all intents and purposes is a minimalist when it comes to dressing, it made sense. find something that is comfortable and stick with it. the fact that your outfit, minus undies and socks, is eagerly awaiting you every morning from the floor , thus shaving minutes of a person’s morning routine is just a bonus.
i hadn’t noticed that this tendency had changed recently. until i was folding laundry. a job that brings me great please when is is finished, but no love while in the process. i noticed that the bug’s piles were much larger than usual. i, then, started paying closer attention. sure enough, the kid was *gasp* changing his shirts. when confronted with this fact, he simply stated, “i thought it was time for a change.”
huh? after lamenting this step in the bug toward manhood, i took solace in those things that haven’t and may never change.
ah! anybody want a nice cold glass of oj? well here you go! oh wait, someone put the pitcher back in the fridge with this much juice left in it. the bug swears it wasn’t him. i have my doubts. also if you look really closely, in the background, you see the baskets of hats, scarves, and gloves has vomited all over floor. a daily occurrence.
phew! the more things change, the more they stay the same.
